| The
WhereNet WhereCall II is a key component of the WhereNet Wireless
Parts Replenishment System, which provides a highly flexible wireless
solution that eliminates the need for wired line-side infrastructure
and can replace paper based Kanban Systems.
Each
container of parts is associated with a wireless WhereCall, which
transmits its unique identification when the call button is pressed
by the operator. This transmission is received by a network of WhereNet
antennas that are strategically installed at ceiling height within
a customer manufacturing area.
The WhereNet Wireless Parts Replenishment System then processes
the received signal, confirms that a valid request has been made
and forwards a material call to a third party's system software.
From there the call can be forwarded to vehicle-mounted terminals,
floormounted workstations, or paging systems.
WhereCall
II is a compact unit, with a durable call button. The WhereCall
uses a LCD to display elapsed time from each button activation.
The LCD is visible to operators at their workstation so they know
how much time has passed since their last
call.
The
project timeline for this project was extremely fast paced, from
concept to finished molded and assembled first parts in less than
10 weeks!
