Senior Project Engineer
• Responsible for overall project and design of bio-absorbable medical
implants, as well as specialized installation tools for these implants.
These parts can range from individual injection molded plastic parts
and stainless steel machined parts, to PCB and related mechanical
components.
• Worked with cadavers in an OR setting to test implants, installation
tools, and procedures. Work with practicing physicians on instructions
for use and areas of improvement. Meticulous document creation and
control in preparation for FDA submissions.
• Some products were divided among other team members, requiring
clear communication and cross functional interaction.
• Design and oversee fabrication of test and manufacturing fixtures.
Write and verify test plans and other procedural documentation.
• Close interaction with suppliers for all levels of quantities.
Scope of projects can range from single manufacturing fixture for
use in a clean room to short run limited production verification
runs to million part production runs.
• Software: SolidWorks, Cosmos/W, ProEngineer, AutoCAD, Illustrator

Senior Mechanical Designer – Current Products Engineer
• Responsible for several parts of a project divided among other
team members, requiring clear communication and cross functional
interaction. These parts can range from individual plastic parts,
to connectors, to PCB and related mechanical components. Worked
closely with marketing on design changes, as well as color matching
of raw resins and paint finishes, and IMD finish solutions.
• Responsibilities include creation of 3D parametric models. Creation
of piece part and assembly drawings, BOMs, and engineering change
order documentation. As well as prototype implementation and evaluation.
• Extensive injection molding experience, including tool design
reviews and first off part reviews and inspection. Worked with both
US and overseas toolers/molders. Travel to Singapore , Hong Kong
, Mainland China , and Mexico .
• Responsible for new product Quality Assessment testing, including
drop testing, temp/humidity, vibration, mechanical shock, etc. Responsible
for writing test plans, scheduling of test, root cause analysis
and publishing of test results.
• Represented mechanical engineering on our vendor qualification
team for various commodities, such as injection molded plastics,
LCD’s, batteries, etc. Conduct audits of suppliers evaluating their
capabilities and making recommendations for approval or rejection.
• Provide close engineering support to our manufacturing group during
initial product start up at our CM’s in both Mexico and Malaysia
. Such as assembly issues or special procedures. Continued support
as Current Products Engineer until products EOL.
• Responsible for all current products, including ongoing reliability
testing and implementation of product improvements/cost reductions.
• Design and build test fixtures to simulate real world use of our
products, using these results to implement improvements in the design
before it is release for production.
• Set up a small in-house machine shop, with limited prototype capability.
• Software: ProEngineer, ProMechanica, SolidWorks, Cosmos/W, AutoCAD,
Illustrator, Agile Product Control
Oct 1989 – Nov 1999, GVO Inc.

Senior Mechanical Designer
• Lead engineer on a wide variety of products, from medical to consumer
electronics. Worked closely with our in-house designers to get our
clients ideas quickly brought to market, that were mechanically
sound and appealing.
• Created 3D parametric models from either sketches or rough hand
shaped foam models from designers. Including the preparation of
piece part and assembly drawings.
• Meticulous design verification, accomplish by mechanical breadboards
or prototypes, which are tested and evaluated for effectiveness.
• Responsible for setting schedules, milestones, and publishing
weekly status reports.
• Worked closely with clients and their manufacturers upon completion
of a project to make sure it was transferred correctly and the original
design intent was maintained.
• Extensive prototyping skills, hands-on experience with machine
tools, including programming and running 3-axis CNC machining centers.
