• Responsible for overall project and design of bio-absorbable medical implants, as well as specialized installation tools for these implants. These parts can range from individual injection molded plastic parts and stainless steel machined parts, to PCB and related mechanical components.

• Worked with cadavers in an OR setting to test implants, installation tools, and procedures. Work with practicing physicians on instructions for use and areas of improvement. Meticulous document creation and control in preparation for FDA submissions.

• Some products were divided among other team members, requiring clear communication and cross functional interaction.

• Design and oversee fabrication of test and manufacturing fixtures. Write and verify test plans and other procedural documentation.

• Close interaction with suppliers for all levels of quantities. Scope of projects can range from single manufacturing fixture for use in a clean room to short run limited production verification runs to million part production runs.

• Responsible for several parts of a project divided among other team members, requiring clear communication and cross functional interaction. These parts can range from individual plastic parts, to connectors, to PCB and related mechanical components. Worked closely with marketing on design changes, as well as color matching of raw resins and paint finishes, and IMD finish solutions.

• Responsibilities include creation of 3D parametric models. Creation of piece part and assembly drawings, BOMs, and engineering change order documentation. As well as prototype implementation and evaluation.

• Extensive injection molding experience, including tool design reviews and first off part reviews and inspection. Worked with both US and overseas toolers/molders. Travel to Singapore , Hong Kong , Mainland China , and Mexico .

• Responsible for new product Quality Assessment testing, including drop testing, temp/humidity, vibration, mechanical shock, etc. Responsible for writing test plans, scheduling of test, root cause analysis and publishing of test results.

• Represented mechanical engineering on our vendor qualification team for various commodities, such as injection molded plastics, LCD’s, batteries, etc. Conduct audits of suppliers evaluating their capabilities and making recommendations for approval or rejection.

• Provide close engineering support to our manufacturing group during initial product start up at our CM’s in both Mexico and Malaysia . Such as assembly issues or special procedures. Continued support as Current Products Engineer until products EOL.

• Responsible for all current products, including ongoing reliability testing and implementation of product improvements/cost reductions.

• Design and build test fixtures to simulate real world use of our products, using these results to implement improvements in the design before it is release for production.

• Set up a small in-house machine shop, with limited prototype capability.

• Lead engineer on a wide variety of products, from medical to consumer electronics. Worked closely with our in-house designers to get our clients ideas quickly brought to market, that were mechanically sound and appealing.

• Created 3D parametric models from either sketches or rough hand shaped foam models from designers. Including the preparation of piece part and assembly drawings.

• Meticulous design verification, accomplish by mechanical breadboards or prototypes, which are tested and evaluated for effectiveness.

• Responsible for setting schedules, milestones, and publishing weekly status reports.

• Worked closely with clients and their manufacturers upon completion of a project to make sure it was transferred correctly and the original design intent was maintained.

• Extensive prototyping skills, hands-on experience with machine tools, including programming and running 3-axis CNC machining centers.
